Pricing. Every job is quoted before I start, and the number I give you is the number you pay. There is a $125 minimum for any visit — that is the price of a truck showing up, and it is exactly why I will come out for one small job when most contractors will not.
Tell me what you need and I will get you a number.
How to know you need it
- Clothes take two cycles to dry
- The dryer or the laundry room is hot to the touch after a load
- You see lint around the outside vent hood
- It has been more than a year, or you have never had it done
Lint buildup is the most common cause of dryer fires, and a restricted vent makes the appliance work harder and fail sooner. It is a dull job with a real payoff.
What I do
- Camera down the run first, so you can see the actual condition
- Rotary brush the full length, driven from both ends where accessible
- Vacuum the lint out rather than pushing it into the wall
- Check the exterior flap actually opens and closes
- Camera again, and you get both photos
Questions I get
How often should this be done?
Once a year for most households. More often with a large family, pets, or a long vent run.
How long does it take?
About 45 minutes for a standard run. Longer for roof-terminated vents.
Can you do it while you are here for something else?
Yes, and that is the cheapest way to get it done. Ask when I am out for anything else.
